Welcome!

Welcome to the Agrifood Action Research Blog!

The purpose of this blog is to create a virtual forum where progressive agrifood researchers can explore a process for systematic exchange of ideas and arguments related to the changing structure of agriculture and the viability of alternative and transformative agrifood movements.

Future agrifoodie blog colleagues:

I want to begin this blog by thanking Wynne Wright (Michigan State University, wrightwy@anr.msu.edu, for getting this blog organized immediately as her response to my email asking for help. I won't try to to include any substantive remarks about the purpose of the blog -- I'll try to get something more substantive by tomorrow -- but, I hope as people join the blog, that we will respect the norms of intellectual colleagueship and also try to keep our postings concise and to the point.

There are probably a bunch of normative aspects of blog communication that I'm not anticipating (this is the first blog I've entered). But let's all of us try to make the blog a place that we will want to return to, participate in the discussion, debate, arguments, keeping in mind that we want some progressive orientations to be forwarded with respect to our subject matter: agrifood, alternative agrifood movements, and (don't forget) civil society.

Along similar lines, here is a conference that appears to be focused on food activism. http://slowfoodnation.org/
